"November 17th, 2002 was a night that I will never forget. We were still in the early days at the club and my ability to anticipate crowd size wasn't fully developed yet. This night specifically was an interesting one. First, Linton had never played at the club, second, it was a Sunday night which isn't exactly a money night and third, as I recall it was a late booking and I didn't get the amount of time to promote the show that I would've liked. Judging by the reservation count my decision to only have one cook and one server, was a good one but I quickly realized that I had made a HUGE mistake. The club was packed by the time Linton took the stage. I can't honestly say that I actually remember much of what went on musically that night because I was too busy washing dishes, serving tables and tending bar. What I do remember is that Ross suggested I set up some mics and record the night. Thinking back, Ross had a hunch that something special was going to happen on that evening. Special doesn't even begin to describe the music that was played on that night. Linton swung hard and played with so much joy, the crowd hanging on every note. At the end, the trio received a standing ovation, one of the first to occur at the club.

"After the show Linton stayed and talked to every last person that wanted to chat with him and even hung out at the bar and told a few stories about the old days. The show at The Cellar would prove to be one of Linton's last performances. He passed away on March 6th, 2003. I'm extremely thankful that we recorded the night and am happy that Cellar Live can share it with you. I hope you get as much joy out of listening to this record as I do."
