Rossini's Jam Session In Gastown April 4th 8 To 12

Hello there-
It has been awhile since there has been a regular Jam session in Vancouver. I do recall the days when John Doheny ran the infamous "Murphy's Jam". That was always alot of fun and to play with Stan Taylor every Tuesday was priceless. Many thanks to John for that session, it will always be a part of Vancouver's scene. Prior to that, I remember the days at the Classical Joint with Miles Black, Rene and many others. I remember seeing Kevin Elaschuck's "Stratochief's" and loving it. What a group that was! I also remember hearing Phil Dwyer there with Cam Ryga....whoa nellie. I even recall hearing Claude Ranger on many occasions.....
I then remember the three Greenhorn Saturday sessions with Linton Garner. I was there every Saturday and I recall many other players going to the Greenhorn sessions, just to play music with Linton.....to play ballads with Mr.Garner was a royal treat. To hear his opinions on the playing and such was even better.
Well, I am very happy to have been asked to host the new Jam session in Vancouver. Arni May at Rossini's in Gastown has asked me to put together trios for a regular Sunday session in Gastown.Arni really wants to support this "Jam void" in Vancouver. So, it has been confrmed, the Session is back on!!
Starting Sunday, April 4th @ 8pm Morgan Childs, Adam Thomas, Tony Foster and myself will be starting the first of many sessions(every Sunday) in Gastown. Many thanks to Arni May and Rossini's for making this possible!!
The following Sunday's will feature such fine Vancouver Jazz musicians such as: Miles Black, Danny Parker, Ridley Vinson, Stan Taylor, Richard Graham, Mike Kenney, Chris Nordquist and many more waiting to be confirmed. We were going to have the same "house band" every Sunday, but in the spirit of the Jam session (and to share the work in the rythm section) we are going to have a different rythm section every Sunday....any musicians interested please call me at 778-891-3900
There will be a $5 cover at the door to help cover the cost of the band. Arni is creating some food and drink specials for musicians on Sundays, so it should be good. Hope to see you all there and I am looking forward to seeing the Vancouver session come to fruition again!
