Karin Plato grew up in the small farming community
of Alsask, Saskatchewan, population 200. She studied
piano throughout her childhood and later attended the
University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon where she received
a Bachelor Of Music Degree in Piano and Voice. She moved
to Vancouver in 1985 to study vocal jazz and arranging
at Capilano College. In 1996 and 1998 she studied at
The Banff Centre For The Arts with renowned jazz vocalists
Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton. Her second album, THERE'S
BEAUTY IN THE RAIN, was nominated for a JUNO Award in
2000.
