Grew up in the interior of B.C. in Kamloops. Studied piano as a child. In his teens, David played guitar in neighbourhood elementary school garage bands. Soon graduating to performances at community dances and bars. In his early 20's, he moved to Vancouver to study jazz and classical music at Capilano College. Playing guitar, keyboards and vocals in all commercial music styles but main focus was jazz guitar and composition. Influences include Wes Montgomery, George Benson and John Abercrombie. For a number of years David went on the road as a guitarist-sideman for many different leaders. In his early 30's he studied computer music and composition at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. After an undergraduate degree, a Master's followed. As a guitarist/sideman he has recorded or performed with everyone from the Platters to Karin Plato. Currently performing as a leader with various trios around the city. As well as performing in the Latin and Jazz trio Picante with Jack Duncan and Budge Schachte.
