Congratulations to both Pugs and Crows and Very Good for the awards; also got this note this morning from Darren Sigesmund who was nominated for a Juno this year for his Strands II recording:
=============================
I wanted to let you know that I have been awarded the Galaxie Rising Star Award for Best Composition at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. My band performed at the festival last week as part of the TD Prix de Jazz & the Galaxie Rising Star competition. My composition “Dance for Leila” was awarded the Galaxie prize.
You can check out the tune at http://www.myspace.com/darrensigesmund or http://www.darrensigesmund.ca. You can also buy the song or my Strands II CD at CD Baby or iTunes. The tune will be featured on CBC Galaxie Radio http://www.galaxie.ca.
A huge thanks to my band (Eliana Cuevas, Luis Deniz, Reg Schwager, Jim Vivian, and Ethan Ardelli) for a great gig in Montreal. Also, I’d like to thank once again the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council & the Toronto Arts Council for recording & composition support.
Some upcoming gigs:

Tues. Oct. 19 L’Off Festival de Jazz (Montreal) 9:30pm Sala Rossa
