Phil Dwyer has reported in the Jazz Forum the sad news that Arnie Chycoski passed away this morning in Olympia, Washington. He was 72.
Rob McConnell called him “one of the top three lead trumpet players on the planet”. Chycoski played lead trumpet for the Boss Brass for many years.
“An unusually sweet-natured and easygoing man, he first moved to Toronto from his Vancouver base in the late 60′s, and was famed throughout Canada and the USA and for his consistency, solid pitch and wonderful feel.” – JazzFM91
Arnie Chycoski’s memorial serve will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:00 pm at St. Marys Church at Nanoose Bay which is outside of Nanaimo.
