NOW's a busy time

The New Orchestra Workshop is celebrating our 30th Anniversary Party on Monday night.
Come and join us at the Cellar Jazz Club with amazing vocalists Christine Duncan and db Boyko and special guest appearances by pianist Paul Plimley, guitarist Ron Samworth, and other surprise guests. Music starts at 8:30 pm and the cover is only $5.

The is also a free workshop with Christine at The Western Front today at 4:00 pm.



Next up is Hear it NOW! 2007.

The show will feature the NOW Orchestra under the direction of Coat Cooke with special guest Amina Claudine Myers. Ms. Myers is "One of the few women of Chicago's creative music scene, and one of the few jazz composers with a mastery of blues, gospel and soul music."
We're also pleased to feature our Voices of Joy Chamber Choir including vocalists Christine Duncan, Phoebe MacRae, db Boyko, Viviane Houle, Peter Hurst and Matthew MacTavish. The NOW Orchestra will feature: Graham Ord, Saul Berson, Dave Say on saxophones; Kevin Elaschuk, John Korsrud on trumpets; Rod Murray, Brad Muirhead on trombones; Ron Samworth guitar, Lisa Miller piano, Paul Blaney bass and Kenton Loewen drums.

The show is on Friday, November 16, 8pm

Tickets through Ticketmaster are $20/$15 plus service charge
Students $5 plus service charge


Finally, November 19th marks the launch of the new NOW Orchestra Records Label, with the release of the first cd, with distribution by Cellar Live. ion Zoo will be performing to mark the release of "SET FREE AT THE CELLAR". More details will be forthcoming in the vancouverjazz.com forum.
