Jimmy Greene with Brad Turner this weekend

posted by Brian Nation

Brad Turner's quintet appears at the Cellar for three nights this weekend (Friday to Sunday) featuring guest tenor saxophonist Jimmy Greene. Greene has, at thirty-two, emerged as a major voice in the New York jazz scene. In addition to his five critically acclaimed albums as leader on Criss Cross and RCA Victor, he appears on over 45 albums as a sideman, and has performed and/or recorded in the bands of Horace Silver, Tom Harrell, Harry Connick, Jr., Freddie Hubbard, Kenny Barron, Lewis Nash, Avishai Cohen, Jason Lindner, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band.

Cory Weeds spoke with Jimmy Greene yesterday on his radio show, Chasin' the Train.
